“Know before you decide” – A Guide to Medicare Options

With Medicare’s Annual Enrollment Period just weeks away, experts are urging everyone to look beyond premiums and perks and focus on protection when it matters most.

For many families, a medical crisis like pancreatic cancer can turn life upside down. But for too many, that battle extends beyond the diagnosis into a second, unexpected fight: navigating the complex world of health insurance.

“When you’re diagnosed with something serious, your insurance plan becomes the blueprint for your fight, But if you haven’t read your plan’s fine print, you could discover your cancer center is ‘out-of-network’ or that you need prior authorization for life-saving scans. That’s time you simply don’t have,” says Martha Khlopin of Get 2 Insurance.

While agents play a critical role in helping people sign up for plans, Martha says their focus is often transactional not educational.

Khlopin says, “People walk away enrolled, but not empowered. They have the insurance card, but no idea how to use it when a crisis hits.”

This partnership will combine cancer advocacy with Medicare education giving patients and caregivers the tools they need to make informed choices. When families understand their health plan, they can focus their energy on healing.
