Fundraiser honors Memphis MMA fighter, benefits pancreatic cancer research
BARTLETT, Tenn. — This weekend, friends and family of a local mixed martial arts fighter, who died from pancreatic cancer in 2025, will host a fundraiser in his honor.
WREG’s Raven Copeland spoke to a longtime friend of David Ferguson about Ferguson’s life and the purpose of Saturday’s event.
“David was the pioneer, in my opinion, of MMA and combat sports in the Memphis area,” said Jaime Houston.
Houston is talking about his friend, David Ferguson, a former MMA fighter and the owner of Memphis Judo and Jiu Jitsu, which served as a hub for the martial arts community.
