Mixed Martial Arts fight will honor legacy of David Ferguson
Jamie Houston first met David Ferguson in 2008 at a mixed martial arts gym in Olive Branch. Houston, who was from Hernando, was a big fan of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and was looking for a place to train.
Ferguson was an early MMA fighter who started Memphis Judo and Jui Jitsu and later became a well-known trainer.
“He is pretty much the pioneer of MMA in the Mid-South area,” Houston said. “He was fighting MMA before any of us. Most of the gyms in the area were a product of him. Most people around here have trained under him.”
